Banana Tree Cafe in Korea

Hi guys! How's your day? I did cafe hunting with my oppa last Saturday and we found some hidden gems that I want to show you guys today! Another unique and cute cafe that I've been really curious about this place for a while, the cafe called Banana Tree (바나나 트리). I had seen this cafe first on Instagram when my Instagram friends posted a picture of a flower pot and latte with cotton candy on top, after seeing that picture on Instagram I decided to give it a try.
Anyways, there are three branches: Sinsa (Garosu-gil), Hannam (Itaewon), and Lotte Department Store Star City branch. The closest locations near me was Sinsa, so we decided to take a subway from Gangnam to Sinsa since it's quite convenient for us. Me and my boyfriend always find a new cafe to try but we just can't keep track of new cafe that's always appearing out of nowhere all over Seoul. Most of the times when we see a nice cafe and we were interested to give it a try, we already ate so we always said "Okay, let's come here next time!" Now we probably have hundreds of cafe list that we want to gie it a try. Hahaha. Okay, enough with my babbling, let's get back to the topic!

신사동 바나나트리를 다녀왔어요! Here's the Banana Tree cafe that we've found through those hardships. This place was a little hard to find for us because this cafe is hidden away and a little bit far from subway stations and it's easy to pass by on the street if you aren't familiar with the area. It took us quite a long time to figure out which way is the right way, and we trying to find it by using Naver maps but we get lost for 2 times, but once we got there it was totally worth it!

Did you see the banana wallpaper by the wall?

Plants with oversized sunflowers are very attractive and look beautiful in oversized pots at the front door.

You can also pick it up for take out.

There's a monkey toy and a curtain hanging at the front door.

As you can see there's an antique lighting on the ceiling.

If you look up you will see the toy Pinocchio dangling precariously on the ceiling.

The cafe is small with a few tables, colorful chairs and a counter bar area.

The walls are filled with post-its of people who have visited the cafe previously.

It's got super cute miniature art displayed and paintings on the walls.

There is a creative and adorable clock on the wall

Great idea for a display item these old vintage looking telephones. My parents used to use the telephone like this when I was a kid. lol

You can take a blanket if you want to, but don't bring it to home. lol

The board are decorated with some neat photos.

They are super cute, miniature versions of banana.

You place your order at the counter and they will bring your food or drink to your seat. The best thing about this place, I must say is it's services! The staff are lovely, friendly, and knowledgeable. They don't all speak great english but they will do anything to help you.

There are so many options to chose from the menu here.
They have a huge variety of cute dessert to order, and they also have a good selection of drinks.

They also have a great variety of flavors for the Flower Paap (화분팝) and they are available in banana, strawberry and espresso flavour. You can even get potted pudding plants to go! Sounds so good right?

I came on a Saturday afternoon at around 3pm and it wasn't busy at all, the place is really clean and well-kept which I like. Loving the vintage vibe and I also love the vibrant color that they use!

The menu board. The show of plants and flowers was very beautiful.

We were lucky because sitting at window seat watching people walk by.

This is the logo of cafe. Banana Tree is an eye-catching cafe brand in Korea with its signature menu: Flower Pot Cake (화분팝) and Cotton Candy Latte / Somsom Latte (솜솜라떼).

I am happier with him, always! Selfies while waiting for our dessert. lol

 Please ignore my ugliness. =D

Do you want to witness cuteness overload? For those who crave that something sweet let me warn you that this will be very tempting and it's pretty much cuteness overloadDon't say that I didn't warn you okay?
When looking at the menu, we decided to order their signature items which was the Flower Paap and Somsom Latte. I was confused between strawberry, banana or espresso for the taste of flower paap, but after discussing with my oppa and I decided to go for Banana Flower Paap for sharing. It cost about 5,800 Won. Besides that, my boyfriend also order this Cotton Candy Latte (Somsom Latte) for our drink. It cost about 6,300 Won. You can choose to have cold or hot Somsom Latte based on your own preference, and there are a variety of flavors of somsom latte to choose from, and we got Chocolate Somsom Iced Latte.

And here's a video that I took in the cafe.
video

They will give you a small spoon with the shape of a shovel. Aww, this is just so cute! I will take you home. No I'm just kidding. lol

Too cute to eat! The flower paap was inspired by New York's Magnolia Bakery, where pudding with freshly-made cream would be placed at the bottom of the pot, covered with Oreo "soil", planted with a silk flower supported by a straw stem. Who can resist this cute Banana Flower Paap?
Before you eat, remove the flowers from the pot! In a small pot, mix together the cake and pudding mixes covered with oreo crumbs that made it look like soil that's dressed up with chocolate pebbles and a small bouquet of silk flowers sprouting from the middle with chunks of fresh banana in the middle and served in flower pot.
I couldn't wait, I had to dig into the banana flower paap cake! This banana flower paap is very moist and creamy but they're quite overwhelmingly sweet for me and my oppa. If you're craving anything sweet then I highly recommend stopping by and give it a try if you are in the area.

Dig into the sweetness of a banana flower paap! You get to dig in to your banana flower paap with a shovel shaped spoon.

We also ordered the Chocolate Cotton Candy Latte (Somsom Latte) which comes with a huge serving of candy floss on the top. Som literally means cotton in Korean. I drink this with my oppa since he really want to give it a try. At first time we were wondering how we should drink it, and then we finally figured out how to drink Chocolate Cotton Candy Latte. We manage to dig a little hole and have the drink together with the candy floss.
Overall, the cotton candy drink is their latte which actually taste like iced chocolate with cotton candy on top, I have to say the Chocolate Cotton Candy Latte was not very tasteful, and it was too sweet for me and too expensive. But well, at least they have a very beautiful presentation skill so it doesn't hurt to come here once in a while but probably not a very great place to hang out every week otherwise you are going to bankrupt. lol
