Hi guys! How are you doing today? I know I know, you guys probably think I'm such a lazy bum for not blogging these days, sorry for kept you guys waiting for so long, because I was busy with my studies. As I've promised in my post before, I am posting a new cafe review today!
I'm a cafe Hopping who loves to chill and digging for desserts. Here's the cafe that we've found through those hardships, took us quite a long time to figure out which way is the right way. This cafe called, SOBOK (소복) Natural Handmade Dessert. Let's start shall we?
The cafe was really crowded. I am not gonna lie to you, this place should be in the spotlight for it's delicious desserts.
Sobok ice cream (소복 아이스크림) is probably the most famous desserts in Korea these days. Sobok uses all natural and fresh ingredients and its aim is to create a healthy dessert without additional fat, sugar or preservatives.
I just want to try them all! For those counting calories, Sobok is a bomb! I also bought today. I'll try and tell you!
Let's take a look inside Sobok cafe, shall we?
The store's cool urban vibe and minimalist design and always crowded with people.
The environment of the cafe was tiny but tidy at the same time.
The interior of the cafe looks so simple but nice.
Luxury Sobok packaging white gift boxes.
Sobok is one of a Korean ice cream shop in Hongdae that was featured in Tasty Road.
Sobok creates nutty and plain taste, roasting grains in milk with lots of love based on rice, without using finished mix products. Sobok tries to deliver soft and exact taste, grinding these ingredients finely again every morning.
They only have 4 menus; Sobok Snowflake, Sobok Ice Cream, Sobok Injeolmi Ice Ball, and Sobok Sweet Potato Ice Cream.
Beautiful white chrysanthemum flowers with yellow centre in aluminum pot.
The waiters and waitresses are very knowledgeable, attentive, and friendly. I watched the staff in the open kitchen, the kitchen was clean and if you’ve ever wondered how they are created, the open kitchen at Sobok allows you to see all of the action and you can watch as your ice cream or bingsu is piped, and decorated right before your very eyes.
Now let's take a look at the desserts porn shots!
The ice cream is made up of different grains instead of milk without adding synchetic additiveds such as colorants, viscosity materials and they top it off with various ingredients, such as pumpkin chunks, dried persimmon, sunflower seeds, rice cake (인절미), honey, and a variety of nuts. Each bowl of Sobok ice cream is garnished with a small chrysanthemum flower. Remember don't eat the flower, the flower is only for decoration. These paper bowls are so pretty on their own as a piece of unique art, and the paper bowl the ice cream is served in is also environmentally friendly, as it is made of corn powder. I was much happier with this selection, the ice cream was very flavorful, and it is not overly sweet, it tasted light, and I just can’t stop finishing mine.
This is our second order from Sobok, Sweet Potato Ice cream! Sweet Potatoes are one of my favorite foods, both sweet and savory, so I was really looking forward to this one. Ice cream inside a baked sweet potato skin instead of a cone, what a great idea! I've seriously never had a better ice cream, this delightful dessert is a sweet comfort that you cant get enough of! This ice cream has such a unique flavor, and wrapped with a baked sweet potato it created a nice combination of texture and flavors in each bite! Try these healthy desserts to satisfy your sweet tooth. Each cost about 5,500 Won. It's expensive, but so worth it. This is an enjoyable taste, and one which you will come back for repeatedly.
Woo hoo! This is our last order, we also tried their Sobok Injeolmi Ice Ball. Not but not least, rice cake in ice cream! It is seriously comforting dessert for me when I crave for delicious dessert.
The ice cream is coiled up with a small amount of rice cake in the centre, thinly coated with soy powder. Nom nom nom! The ice cream itself is very tasty, authentic, thick and rich in taste and it easily melts in your mouth and I loved it! Combination of the ice cream and the injeolmi it was delicious. But for 7,500won, I think it's a little pricey. Well, I would really recommend you to come in groups so you can actually try all the good dessert!
Selfies with my boyfriend. Not to forget too take photo with their paper bowl ice cream! Lol
