A visit to Jebudo Island

Hello everyone! Yeah yeah.. I just realized I have been away for almost 4 days! I'm so sorry! Anyway! How's your weekend going? If your not enjoying it, go text your friends or your lovely and just chill! Okay? Hehehe. Sometimes I do find the space to just get away from my busy life and stress. Today I'm going to post about my summer vacation trip last month. This will be a super long post so read it while you are not busy guys! =D Now, sit back and enjoy!

Last month we visited Jebudo Island (제부도) on the west coast of Korea. Jebudo (제부도) is a small island about 2 hours from Seoul by car. I was really really lucky enough to grab a ride from my oppa with a car, because this island is probably the most difficult to access, as you have to get to Geumjeong on subway line 1, catch a bus then catch a smaller bus, and catch the ocean at low tide so that the road is passable, but don't worry there are public transportation options available, though they will probably take you longer than driving. =D
When we arrived on the island, around 05.30 in the morning, it was low tide.
There were so many cars come and go when it low tide.

Jebudo Island reveals its seaway twice a day. At high tide, Jebudo remains an island and at low tide, a 2.3 kilometer-long cement seaway is opened. The time of the tide changes daily, but as a rough guide, the causeway is usually passable from 7:50 a.m. to 15:10 p.m. and from 19:30 p.m to 03:20 a.m.
You need to confirm the time boats are available because the tide comes and goes at different time. It is important to be aware of the low tide times because at high tide you cannot drive on or off of the island, because the causeway becomes flooded.

This phenomenon is called "Jebu Moses" and is the third most famous attraction among the eight scenic attractions of Hwaseong-si. In the past, the cement seaway used to be a narrow one lane road and the vehicles had to wait periodically to yield to other cars coming from the opposite direction. But the road was expanded to a two lane road recently, and there is no need to wait periodically any longer.

The security officers preparing to close the doors.

The waters keep coming. Shows water level, and times for high tide!
The flatness of the seabed also means that when the tide goes out, it goes way out.
This video depicts the low and high tide.

Since Jebudo is not directly connected to the mainland and is surrounded by tidal mudflats, it presents a unique situation for travelers getting to the island. Due to the fact that the road from the shore to the island is built on top of the mudflats, the road is underwater during hide tide, and during hide tide getting on or off the island by car or bus is unavailable.
From Jebudo Island (제부도) you can witness the parting of sea.
In the morning, the weather is really bad. I really don't like how much weather changes things. I hate feeling hot and humid! Honestly, I don't like going out when it's rain or hot. I've always pretty much prefered winter. But oppa said "Just because it's hot and raining doesn't give you an excuse to skip your workout!!!" ㅠㅠ
It wasn’t the cleanest sea I’ve ever been to but the waves are nice and the breeze is fresh.
Jebudo Island is the most popular spot because it is located in the Seoul metropolitan area.

After the water rises, visitors can find clams and can enjoy fishing. At the nearby shops, hoes, gloves and fishing equipment can be rented or bought.
There are many things to experience at the beach and mud. Many people went there hoping to dig clams, but don't expect to go swimming since the entire island is surrounded by mud flats.
I being a mama's girl, I had no idea how to dig for clams before we went, and afterwards, I still have no idea. Please bear with me... ㅠㅠ

By the way, me and my oppa really likes doing our couple matching outfit so this is his outfit of the day for last Saturday, and you will see more more clearly about our outfits. =D

This shell is mine, I found on beach. I have collected so many shells. Hehehe.

A warm sunny day, high on a cliff near the great ocean, you can see tens of seagulls all flying in the sky.
If you have a family or boyfriend or girlfriend, you can have a perfect time while at the beach. Think about it, you can relax to the sound of waves, all while being in the outdoors.
Everyone seemed to enjoy frolicking in the gentle surf.
Must have a picture with the beautiful beach!

The beach does have a lot of places to lay in the sun, catch some rays, and get your toes wet. So if you are a person who like going to the beach during your holiday or vacation, you will need a beach tent, towel, lounge chairs, and another things you need.

With a tent, you can rest and relax on the shore of the Jebu Island, and you will probably fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean.
Get in touch with nature, have fun with the whole family or your lover!
The view was really calming and beautiful!

We sat for a minute on the sand, watching the waves crash on the shore.

Finally the rain has stopped! Even it was hot and raining, but that didn't stop us from walking along the beach for a while when we arrived. Anyway, look at the stairs! This is so adorable! I love taking the stairs.
Finally we arrived at The Moses Miracle at Jebudo.
Have you seen the Moses Miracle at Jebudo Island? If you didn't see it, I'm going to show you right now!
Jebudo well known for the Moses Miracle, a reference to the Bible story, where the sea appears to part twice a day and the island is connected to the mainland.
There are also some candid pictures taken by oppa.
As you can see, I wearing our couple t-shirts! So this is my outfit post of the day! I look so sporty, right? LOL

The picture with the Moses Miracle was taken by me. =D

Many people enjoy using boats for recreational purposes.

Jebudo is the great place for a long walk either along the beach or through one of the island’s hiking trails, and there are many things to see like this very long bridge by the sea.
The view is stunning from the top! For people looking for a place to bring kids or your lover, look no further because this area can provide entertainment for all!
Yeah, the road is long and we are so tired! Beside the fact that it was hot and humid, so we went to the ice cream store and then we bought some ice cream to make us happy! LOL
Thinking about bringing your dog with you to the beach? Going to the beach with your dog can be so much fun for both of you because this is a nice place to bring your dogs in the summer months as well as the off-season.

I have always loved watching people who catching what fish and where they put it. LOL
Let us take a selfie! Sorry for our faces. =D We had a lot of fun just hanging out together and here's our couple looks. ♥

On the southern part there is beautiful rocks with the sandy spit leading to the island and expansive salt marshes on the other.
There were so many people who were taking photos in the area.
We explored the beach and did a little rock climbing. Can you spot my oppa? LOL
This is a perfect location to do a photoshoot especially with the big rocks around sunset.
He wanna know what it's like on the inside of cave. =D
Honestly it was so hot I couldn’t open my eyes at all. Anyway, I really, really love this bag! ❤ Crossbody bag by: ZAFUL

There were some very nice rock formations in front of us.
As you are walking down, you'll get a beautiful view of the Jebudo!

This is an excellent viewing area for seagull. I love to sit on the beach and watch the waves roll in.
video

We was exhausted and hungry, so we decided to get some Galbitang / beef short ribs soup (갈비탕) at Jebudo BBQ near sea for our late lunch.
You can sit here for hours just watching the sea and waves .

There are many items to choose from on the menu.

We was happy when they brought out the six different types of side dishes, but we was disappointed when we tasted them. The side dishes was not that great but u get your order fast!
Our foods arrived! I ordered the Galbi-tang (beef short ribs soup) and my oppa ordered Yuk-gae-jang (육개장).
This was probably the worst galbitang I've had. =( I've never seen Galbitang with egg. The beef meat is hardly plucked from the bone and it was a very bland taste! Absolutely disgusted and won't come back.
Yukgaejang is a spicy, soup-like Korean dish made from shredded beef with scallions and other ingredients, which are simmered together for a long time. Probably the worst Korean food in Jebudo and the worst Korean restaurant I have ever been to. All of our food presented very well but had NO TASTE. Very bland! I would not recommend them for anything.
We finished our lunch and we returned to our car. We went to the cafe around 4.30pm, and we just wait until the sun goes down and rest a while. I will show you what did cafe we go in another blog post, so stay tuned!
What a beautiful place to stay! So romantic! Jebudo is also a nice place to watch the sunset.
The Jebudo is definitely a great place to take pictures of seagull.
I enjoy the sunset as much as the sunrise.
Anyway, I love watching the sunset with my oppa. Thank you for taking me to this beautiful place! And thank you so much for your time, expertise, and patience.

Watch this video and listen to the relaxing nature sounds of seagulls at the seashore with waves crashing on the beach. Everything just comes together, waves beating and retreating against the natural rock formations, and a sun goes down in the distance. Ahhh... watching this video makes me feel calm and warmth at heart. I don't know why though. =D

Going to the Jebudo means eating seafoods. There are many restaurants and Pojangmacha (포장마차) just near the sea. 포장마차 (Pojangmacha) is a popular place to have a snack or drink late into the night. My oppa brought me to this shellfish restaurant at the Gungpyeonghang (궁평항).
This was our dinner. There were grills built into the tables of the restaurant, my oppa commenced the grilling portion of the meal by slipping on white gloves because these allowed him to pluck the hot morsels straight off the grill.
video
The waiter brought us big baskets full of shellfish which we had to cook ourselves. Seeing the shells open up and boil right in front of me, it almost made me scared. All our food was beautifully prepared and the service was friendly.
Now, now, just look at that amazing dishes of shellfish. They're tasty but some of them that have a fishy smell and a little bit of bitterness in the taste of shellfish, and the food is very expensive!

Over all, the day was a great time spent outside under the sun, relaxing, laughing, and having fun. I really enjoyed my day at this island. If you are stuck on the Jebudo island overnight, finding a place to stay on Jebudo should pose no problem, because there are plenty of pensions, minbaks, and motels to spend the night at. We stayed one night in the car and I highly recommend it. LOL You can save your money and manage your money wisely!

  11. I have never heard of Jebu Moses. This truly is a phenomenon. I never even knew something like this existed. The way it looks different between high and low tide is amazing. Great post and pictures, thanks for sharing this place. If I ever visit Korea I will definitely want to visit.
