Christmas Garden Of Morning Calm

Hi everyone! May happy times and warm memories brighten your new year, have a great year, and happy new year! For Christmas's Day holiday, I decided to head north of Seoul with Oppa to check out the Lighting Festival at The Garden of Morning Calm.

At 11 o'clock in the morning, 25th December, Oppa and I went to the Garden of Morning Calm (아침고요수목원 or 수목원). The Garden of Morning Calm is located in the mountains of Chungnyeong-san in Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province, which is about 2 hours away from Seoul and you should really consider coming here if you love the nature stuff.

Actually, the Garden of the Morning Calm has been on my list of places to see for a long time, but I’ve never had a chance to get there because no one take me there. Finally after a long wait, I got a chance to visit this place. Thank you Oppa for making me very happy in this lovely place! =)
The entrance fee is 9,000 Won per person.

We arrives before the Christmas lights being on and looks around here and there waiting for the lighting festival to begin. Even though the Garden of Morning Calm (아침고요수목원) is far from Seoul, it is so convenient to travel here for a day. The garden looks particularly deserted in this cold weather.

The Garden of Morning Calm (아침고요수목원), a 30,000㎡ garden, is open year-round and is a great spot to visit for families, couples, and photographers alike. The garden was conceptualized by Professor Han Sang-kyung (Gardening Department, Sahmyook University) while he was serving as an exchange professor in America.
It was breathtakingly beautiful in winter time but it was extremely cold. The garden is a good place to go for couples to go and visit and take pictures.

Here are some photos from the Christmas Lighting Festival at Garden of Morning Calm that we took to show the difference of morning and night!

"When the darkness falls, the garden in calm sleep will wake up one after another". Find new exhibits in the 8th Lighting Festival on "Happy to be Together - with Love" theme.

Look at this cute little church! Looked so cute for church on Sunday! A small church is situated in the Moonlight Garden.

There are various pretty and unique looking trees.

Some Korean pavilions have attractive gardens and ponds.

Fun experience for our first visit to Garden of Morning Calm (아침고요수목원). The weather was fresh and clear so we had great views of everything from The Garden of Morning Calm.

They had a series of romantic light structures, such as a few different hearts and deers.

Let's make a cute snowman in Thursday's special Christmas!

There's also a small creek running through the park with hundreds of piles of stacked rocks. In Korea, you'll see "stone towers" (돌탑) of various sizes in the mountains. Long time ago, Korean believed that if you wish upon a stone, a tree, or a moon, your wish would come true.
Even nowadays, there are still people mounting stone towers or making a wish in front of a giant tree in the mountains.
We have made WISH TOWERS (돌탑) with stones piling up.

There are some Korean old style building placed inside this area.

They get ready to turn on the lights! The lights on each tree bear different looks as they were installed to fit the shape of each tree. They will turn on the lights at 5.20 PM in December. It's good to visit the garden if you're going there for the Christmas light festival since the lights come up after dark.

Though the temperature was below zero degrees the wait, all our hardship and coldness during the trip was truly worth it especially when the place started to light up. You will see a lot of colorful trees and flowers while walking in the cold weather.
Once it was dark the illuminating colors were vivid and truly breathtaking. I felt like we were in fairyland for a day.

The plants and trees aren't the only things covered in lights. Steel skeletons in the shape of huge flowers, horse, hearts, butterfly, umbrella and more are littered throughout the garden, wrapped in color like you've never seen.

We were all pretty surprised how well the photos turned out during night light.

This Garden of Morning Calm has good idea that they decorated trees and flowers with small coloful light bulbs, approaching road is winding and steep, and it is really gorgeous.

Love theme is a must! Love is like a bright light and lights makes winter night lovely.

The lighting festival boasts over a million lit up trees and plants and offers a spectacular view at night.

It was on a holiday and the place was very crowded, but it was perfect for taking pictures and enjoying the scenery.

It was incredibly wonderful seeing the place illuminated in various colors. We would like to come back when all the flowers are in full bloom in the warmer months.

Overall, the garden was beautiful and seemed to be kept up well. Though, it was cold, freezing, and full of people, but still it is a recommended place.
Have you been to Garden of Morning Calm for the lighting festival?
