Bangyetang at Somunnan Haejangguk

Good Afternoon Friends! A wish for you on Saturday, please enjoy and have a beautiful Saturday! =)

Gwanak-gu (관악구) is home to a number of famous So-Mun-Nan Hae-Jang-Guk (소문안 해장국) restaurants, always crowded, and So-Mun-Nan Hae-Jang-Guk is open 24 hours a day. My Oppa and I were craving something warm for the cold weather so we decided to check this place out!

This was an excellent choice for a lunch date. Tables are big so it's also great for groups!

This restaurant keeps it simple, they menu had only a few options.

Service is so friendly, patient and kind. I think it was the owner who smiled to us at the door when we came and left the restaurant. The owner was very friendly and courteous, service was fast too.
They give you free coin to get a coffee too. I totally recommend it, this place absolutely deserves the high ratings.

Oppa and I ordered the 반계탕 (Ban Gye Tang / Half Chicken Gingseng Soup). One half chicken (Bangyetang) served with a Korean ginseng, dried jujube (대추), garlic, ginger, spring onions and the soups are a combination of chicken meat, and rice too!
There's few rice in the bottom but nothing overwhelming. Perfect for a cold winter night or actually any time when u feel like need more energy. Salt and pepper can be added to enrich its flavors and taste to one's preference.
The best part is the chicken itself, the bone was so soft that become edible. The chicken meat was very moist, fresh, tender and delicious. The broth was very tasty, full of flavored and refreshing.
The herbs were also very tasty and nutritional. Bangyetang or Samgyetang is believed to be a health food that revitalizes the body and boosts the immune system. Samgyetang and Bangyetang is also known be cure physical ailments and prevent sickness as well.

Bangyetang spread is very simple with just kimchi and a couple of other dishes.
It's a perfect pair with their kimchi, amazing-tasty kimchi! The kimchi you see here is fresh and has not been fermented yet, and kimchi is very flavorful so you won't need any other seasonings.

Overall, this place has the best Bangyetang that I've ever had, and definitely one of the best restaurant to get a delicious and steaming pot of Bangyetang is this place. Not only is the portion size more than enough for one person, the soup is savory, delicious, clean, satisfying, and feels absolutely comforting for the soul. It's a healthy soup that's perfect for any season.
